How Campus Marketplace handles student data
This policy explains the data used to run a safer campus marketplace. It is a practical beta policy and should be reviewed by counsel before broad public launch.
Data We Collect
- Email address and authentication information.
- Profile details such as name, avatar, bio, school, graduation year, and contact preferences.
- Listings, prices, descriptions, categories, images, and listing status.
- Messages, conversations, saved items, ratings, reports, and notifications.
- Basic usage data needed for security, debugging, and product reliability.
How We Use Data
- Create and secure student accounts.
- Show marketplace listings, profiles, saved items, and dashboards.
- Power in-app messaging, notifications, reports, and moderation.
- Detect unsafe behavior, enforce guidelines, and improve reliability.
Data Sharing
Campus Marketplace does not sell user data. Seller profile and contact information may be shown based on profile settings and preferred contact method. Supabase and Vercel are used as service providers for hosting, authentication, database, storage, and deployment infrastructure.
User Controls
- Update profile information from settings.
- Edit, hide, mark sold, or delete listings you created.
- Use reports for suspicious listings, users, or messages.
- Request account or data deletion through the admin contact as this feature is expanded.
Security
The app uses Supabase authentication, row-level security, storage policies, validation, moderation checks, and Vercel security headers. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, so users should also protect personal information and use safe campus meetup practices.
